About the GP Rating Course

The GP Rating (General Purpose Rating) course is a 6-month pre-sea training program approved by DG Shipping, Government of India. This course prepares candidates to work in both Deck and Engine departments of Merchant Navy ships.

After successful completion, candidates can join ships as Ordinary Seaman (OS), Wiper, or Trainee Rating and gradually get promoted to higher ranks through sea-time experience and competency exams.

Eligibility Criteria

• 10th Pass from Recognized Board (Minimum 40% Marks)
• Minimum 40% in English (10th or 12th)
• Age between 17.5 to 25 years
• Medically Fit as per DG Shipping Standards
• Eye Sight: 6/6 Vision (No Color Blindness)
